Select Actuarial Services is an independent property and casualty actuarial consulting firm. We specialize in the analysis of risks retained by non-insurance entities, either through self-insurance or captive insurance company arrangements. We have an established base of long-term, satisfied clients in many fields and we expect this base to continue to grow. This growth has compelled us to look for a qualified intern.
Select Actuarial Services is currently seeking to hire an intern for the summer or fall of 2023 to learn from and assist us in the technical analyses required to complete our actuarial projects. Duties will include analysis of data in electronic spreadsheets, running loss modeling software, and checking exhibits for accuracy. Compensation for the position will be at a competitive hourly rate.
The qualified applicant will be a rising junior or senior working toward a degree in math or actuarial science (candidates with degrees in other fields and a strong math background will be considered). Having credit for the first actuarial exam is a plus but not required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also essential for success in a consulting environment. Computer know-how is important, with spreadsheet skills being the most valuable. Qualified applicants must be detail-oriented and capable of working in a team environment. Foremost, we are interested in hiring an intern who would eventually like to pursue a career in the actuarial field, most especially with us.
Select Actuarial Services offers a dynamic and unique working environment. We believe this internship will give the qualified applicant an excellent opportunity to discover all that the actuarial career has to offer along with experiencing the fascinating world of working in an independent actuarial consulting practice.
